Casino Steel met Gary Holton in 1974 while playing in The Hollywood Brats and Gary in The Heavy Metal Kids. They shared the same manager, walked in the same musical circles and eventually began pubbing together on a regular basis. It was there the idea of Holton & Steel was born.
The duo miraculously released 4 albums in a two year period.Their first album took 2 years after recording to be released - as there were few, if any record companies that would release it.Their breakthrough came with their Punk-Country version of "Ruby (Don't Take Your Love To Town). The debut album sold 127,000 copies in Norway alone and the duo were met with near-Beatles hysteria during their tours. . Their new style of music, a mutation between Punk and Country (at a time when no one had even dreamed of such a crossbreed), had wide appeal and their records were released in over 23 countries.
