In 1974 Ian Hunter left Mott The Hoople, the British rock band he helped form five years earlier, after seven albums (of which both Mott ('73) and The Hoople ('74) went gold, and numerous hit singles on both sides of the Atlantic (including "All The Young Dudes," "All The Way From Memphis," and "Roll Away The stone." Mick Ronson played guitar on Mott's final single and together he and Ian formed a partnership that would last until Mick's untimely death in 1993. The two produced the hit single "Once Bitten Twice Shy" (also a hit for Great White) and classic albums like Ian Hunter ('75) and You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic ('79). Their final album together was YUI Orta ('89). Recent reissues of Welcome To The Club ('80) and Short Bank N' Sides ('81) boosted several unreleased tracks and yielded favorable reviews in the music press. Not dwelling on his impressive past though, Ian has been working on a solo album for the past two years in his home studio and making regular live appearances in Scandinavia during '91, '92 and '93 has kept him a household name in Sweden and Norway.
